Carlsbad Flower Fields are easy to spot along the San Diego freeway. The flowers bloomed in the hills above the Pacific Ocean for over fifty years. The flower fields will be open for public viewing (March 1 through May 14, 2023. 9 am – 6 pm daily). Advance tickets are required.
At one time, the fields were out in the middle of nowhere; today, development has surrounded the colorful display. Visitors can walk the grounds and get close to this vivid display of blooming flowers.
The flower fields charge admission, but if you are on a tight budget or just stopping by on your way to Legoland, viewing this fantastic display of flowers for free is possible.
First-time visitors will probably pay the admission fee to get a close-up view of the flowers on foot or take the fields’ tractor tour.

Carlsbad Flower Fields Free Viewing
If you would like to see the flower fields but don’t want to spend money on admission, it is effortless to do. The view from Armada Drive is almost as impressive as walking through the fields.
No entrance fee, plenty of parking, and even some benches to sit on. Armada Drive runs directly behind the Carlsbad Flower Fields and can be accessed from Palomar Airport Road or Cannon Road and Legoland Drive.
There is a paved sidewalk with plenty of free parking that gives you a birds-eye view of Carlsbad’s flower fields and the Pacific Ocean. The open area is a great place to enjoy the flower fields for those on a tight budget or if you’re heading to Legoland and want a quick peek at this beautiful Carlsbad attraction.
The flower field is an impressive sight just driving by on the highway if you can walk through the flowers and enjoy the flowers’ views and smell close up.
Expect many people on the weekend, so plan on getting to the flower fields early. If you go to Legoland, Carlsbad flower fields are a great way to start your day.
You can drive down the coast a few miles to San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas for more flower viewing.
The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch is only a few minutes from Legoland and Sea Life Aquarium. Make your visit to the flower fields an all-day event by visiting Legoland.
Carlsbad Flower Fields Admission
The Carlsbad Flower Fields: 5704 Paseo Del Norte, Carlsbad, CA 92008. The flower field season is from March through mid-May. Hours: Open to the public seven days a week from 9:00 AM to 6:00 This year, the admission price is adults $23.00 plus a processing fee. Kids 3- 10 $12.00 plus a processing fee.
Peak viewing time is usually mid-March through Mid-April, depending on weather conditions. Check the Flower Fields website to get the latest update on the bloom.
The owner ensures that the Flower Fields bloom for years by charging an entrance fee and selling products. Also involved with keeping the flowers’ fields are The City of Carlsbad, The Carlsbad Agricultural Improvement Fund, and the California Coastal Conservancy.
Enjoy one of the few remaining working farms along the coast of Southern California and have a fun day trip. Bring a light sweater or jacket if you visit early in the day, and don’t forget the camera.

4-3-19 Atria collwood van just drove around past premium outlet, car dealers, etc and didn’t stop. but we saw another Atria van parked on the street and no people in sight- so maybe they found the free viewing area. flowers along old 101 were nice tho
years ago I went with our history of san diego class from old town school house on a sunday morning to the fields and they were beautiful.
also you use to able to see the field from the freeway while on a greyhound bus between san diego – los angeles
