Tanaka Farms is a brief drive from the San Diego Freeway along University Drive in Irvine. You can access the farm by taking the road that leads to the Strawberry Hills golf course. Once you arrive, the farm fields will be on your left, and the produce stand will be on your right.
Tanaka Farms is one of the few family-run operations still operating in Orange County. They offer a range of organic produce, including strawberries, tomatoes, watermelons, and pumpkins, during their respective seasons.
Farm tours pulled by tractors are a beloved family activity, allowing you to witness the growth of various fruits and vegetables in the fields. Visitors can even sample fresh produce straight from the vine during the tour.
The Tanaka farm is a vibrant piece of Orange County’s history that has survived urbanization. Both kids and adults enjoy taking the farm tours, which provide an excellent opportunity to learn about where our food comes from.
At Tanaka Farms, you can find a produce stand that offers fresh and organic produce. The stand is open on weekdays from 9 am to 6 pm and on weekends from 9 am to 5 pm. It’s an excellent spot to purchase fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices. Additionally, the service is friendly and accommodating.
Wagon Rides
Farm tours include a tractor-pulled wagon trip around the farm and a taste of fruits or vegetables, depending on the season.
The Strawberry Tours are approximately an hour long, and at the end of the tour, you can choose and fill a one-pound basket to bring home. The Watermelon Tours occur in July and August, and you can pick a melon to take with you after the tour.
Amazingly, there’s still a place like Tanaka Farms in Orange County. It’s an excellent destination for families with kids, as they can enjoy a farm tour and even taste and pick fresh vegetables. The Farm Tours are affordable, and children under two years old can join for free. It can get quite crowded, so planning your visit in advance is best, particularly if you’re going on a weekend.

U-Pick Tours Spring, Summer, and Fall: You pay for the product you pick. Call ahead for the U-Pick tour schedule.
Strawberry Tours March through June: Pick & eat strawberries from the vine plus a basket of berries to take home.
Watermelon Tours July through August: Sample fruits and vegetables plus a farm-grown melon.
Pumpkin Patch Tours Month of October: Pick from the vine or select a harvested pumpkin.
